Open Eyed Meditations: Distillation of ancient wisdom for Modern Lives

TAG LINE: Practical Wisdom for Everyday Life

COME FROM: Author of the Bestselling Ramayana – The Game of Life Series

All of us supposedly know the term: Meditation but have we ever tried to explore the true rather deep meaning of the term? Not really! We are convinced all this is not for us, the lesser mortals of the land, but only for those who want to explore higher realms of life. We are happy the way we are. But are we? Not really, till I read: Open Eyed Meditations by famed author & motivational speaker Shubha Vilas.

Other terms to understand with open eyes when all our faculties are at their functional best subject to so much distraction from all quarters. So for all of us lesser mortals, there is Shubha Vilas, author of best-seller Ramayana: The Game of Life Series, who very effectively takes us through the process of Meditation with Open Eyes! Hence the title: Open Eyed Meditations.

The book is another Gem from the author which is very practical and functional in its approach. The interpretations are so apt that in many chapters that we would be  compelled to think that: This is ME, The Thought is MINE, the struggle is MINE, the example is MINE, the success is MINE, the failure is MINE, the dilemma is MINE…it completely immersed ME. There is so many take-aways from this rare gem that your JEWEL BOX would be full, but not your heart. For many books, in the end I have taken sigh of relief, thank God, it’s over but for Open Eyed Meditation, the feeling was: Oh! Got Over!! Yeh Dil Maange More!!!

The book has 64 chapters which run through 278 pages having attractive Cover Page and appropriate credentials on the Back Cover. Book is attractive to receive and engrossing to read. Every chapter is summarized in the end thus making each chapter more meaningful to the reader.  Many chapters just leave you mesmerized and you start self-questioning yourself: How would have I reacted in such a situation?  The answer is in the book.

I would like list few pearls of wisdom here:

  • Is decision making a feeling based art, or a logic-based Science?
  • Comparison is a systematic way of insulting your uniqueness and gifting yourself with misery.
  • Dealing with negativity does not need good aptitude but good attitude.
  • Your happiness quotient lies in how much joy you give others.
  • Our mind, like the lion in a zoo, needs to be confined within the boundaries of discipline.
  • Ravana exists not outside us but within. And he attacks in multiple ways
  • The bug of discontent has spread like an epidemic to destroy the healthy mind.
  • Greatness comes from dealing with imperfections
  • While ordinary people complain of life’s harshness, extraordinary people are busy dealing with them as lifetime opportunities.
  • Quantitative growth or qualitative growth, this marks the difference between good leaders and great ones.

In fact all of us must inculcate meditation to release stress from our daily lives, which is not happening though. But reading rather possessing this book would enable you to do meditation with open eyes where you can choose the chapter which suits your state of mind. The examples have been drawn from Epics Ramayana and Mahabharata which we have grown up reading, however I feel you will enjoy the book to the hilt if you know these epics and their characters well. The generation which has not been fed by these epics may not be able to draw inferences well. The book needs to be read not only with Open Eyes but with Open Minds, Hearts & Souls too, it will do wonders to your existence. You would be able to add so much more value to this invaluable life.

A beautiful journey through 64 chapters, the book is life a verse which you would like to recite in every stage of your life: Young, Old, Not-so-old, Career, Children, Marriage, Relationships, Solitude, Education, Interactions, Indecisions, Leaderships and Distractions…

…it effectively addresses your anxieties.

Ideally the book should be read at a stretch but it is difficult for its 278 pages and I read many pages twice to get the clear understanding of the ideology discussed. The book simply brings out the essence of deeper realms of life which we cannot explore with closed eyed meditations, what to say of open eyed meditation. The book is a self-help book which should be your prized possession for all your life.

Keep it and gift it to spread the AROMA!

Pampers #SoftestForBabySkin – The ultimate experience!

Keep your baby healthy and happy and yourself tension free with the Pampers Active Baby.

Baby’s arrival is a happy occasion for every family, especially for a mother, who has gone through so much throughout this experience of motherhood. But motherhood brings along its own set of challenges. To make life easier for one such young mother I shared the pack of Pampers with Bageshree who obliged me by using the product and sharing her experience.

It was no different for young Bageshree who became mother to cute little Bhargav around 18 months ago.  Her joys knew no bounds, but yes she too was anxious about how to move out with such young baby in tow without proper diaper which is long lasting and comfortable too.

She tried many brands of Diapers, but zeroed in to Pampers Premium Care Pants owing to its softness, absorbency, hygiene and availability. She was very happy that she could easily get it on amazon.com from the comfort of her home. When I shared the product with her, she already knew about it well. Her major concern as a young and working mother was to keep baby’s bums dry and smooth as his skin is unable to bear even slightest of harshness. Skin’s health is best maintained by soft and dry diapers because a baby’s skin is smooth, soft and highly delicate which needs that extra care and attention. This is provided by Pampers Premium care pants surely.

Though I do not have data to support, but I believe Pampers Premium Care Pants – Diapers would be most preferred baby care product in the category by mothers all over. Closed to being a category killer, it merits over factors like: Softness, hygiene, absorbency, packaging and availability though I am not sure on pricing aspect. Nobody minds paying a premium for this unique product which brings along loads of happiness.

These Pampers Premium Care Pants, designed for babies weighing around 6 to 11kgs. However, you must look for the size that fits your baby best, as Pampers has a wide range of sizes depending on your baby’s weight and age.

Pampers come with package of:

  • All night absorbency
  • Extra dry layer for all night dryness/absorbency
  • Baby lotion with Aloe Vera to protect skin and helps to provide smoother skin
  • Soft stretch waist and sides for superior fit comfort
  • Soft like cottony cloth

Happy mother, Bageshree, shared, “I have tried several brands on my delicate child but not of much avail. The diapers don’t give long-lasting dryness and ultimate smoothness which I look for as a concerned mother. I tried the Pampers Premium Care Pants and I must say I couldn’t have been happier owing to its softness, hygiene, absorbency and its attractive packaging which makes my son grabbing it at the slightest opportunity. It has also relieved me from  applying baby lotion after every change. I can surely say it is the most long lasting diaper we can have. Thanks for choosing me and my baby Bhargav for the unique product.”

I am really re-living those moments when I had to call for super absorbent diapers from my sister-in-law from the U.S.  Had Pampers being there, I would have enjoyed hassle-free motherhood and my daughter rash-free childhood.

My Review: The Best Seller She Wrote, The Block-Buster it would become!

Paperback king, Aditya Kapoor’s life is straight out of a modern man’s fantasy. His literary stardom is perfectly balanced by a loving wife and a spectacular career. With everything he touches turning to gold, Aditya is on a winning streak. Shreya Kaushik, is a student with a heart full of ambition. Young, beautiful, and reckless, Shreya speaks her mind and obsessively chases after what she wants. And what she wants is to be a bestselling author.

The back cover of the book catches the essence…

Coming from a banker & author of great standing, Best Seller She Wrote actually turned out to be a surprise package as Ravi Subramanian is known for the thrillers involving thrill, shrill, shocks, frauds…what not! With this book he treads a different path, the romantic thriller. The book starts slowly but catches pace as you move on. The life of main protagonist,  Aditya Kapoor resembles that of famous author Chetan Bhagat, at least to me it looked like that in the initial pages but as story moves on, the semblance melts. His life and character are any woman’s dream, a super-successful professional & celebrated author…who could have asked for more?

But his life takes 180 degree spin when femme fatale Shreya enters his life unknowingly, well knowingly! However it was difficult to absorb that such a celebrated author would fall for the charms and beauty of wannabe author, that too head over heels. Men would be men!

Sherya’s character as an overtly ambitious girl who wants to make a killing with her first book chooses Aditya Kapoor as a ladder to fulfill her ambition but fails to notice the snakes in the game of ‘Snakes and Ladders’. Shreya is beautiful, intelligent, charming, go-getter, effervescent and reckless at the same time. Her charms would make any man go weak in his knees and Aditya was no exception. What happens when celebrated author uses all his might to promote Shreya, his protégé, has been handled quite well by the author. Aditya is gung-ho and helpless at the same time in this relationship. He wants best of both the worlds – the love of his life and the family he loves immensely.

The mentions of real life people like Chetan Bhagat, Nirav Sanghvi of Blogadda, and Poonam Saxena of Hindustan Times lends authenticity. What goes behind the scenes in publishing business is also an eye opener. The most interesting part of the book is when Maya is struck with Ebola virus as lot of research has gone into those pages about the virus.

Coming to Maya’s character who has quit her flourishing corporate career to pursue her passion is quite lovable, is oblivious of her husband’s sexual escapades. A woman who is so well qualified & well placed herself, but her reaction to her husband’s extramarital affair is no different from any ordinary woman. She goes through same pangs like any woman who comes to know that her husband is cheating on her. Her reactions could have been more subtle rather than being so over the top.

Sanjay & Diana make interesting couple and Sanjay as Aditya’s buddy rocks! Sanjay’s character is multi-dimesnional and multi-layered. The affair between Aditya & Shreya is the back bone of the book which is a cross between love & deceit. At many places it is very clearly etched out that Shreya is using Aditya to fulfill her ambition, which he is unable to figure out. Shreya gets too much too soon; the price she paid was too high or was it pittance?  The sex escapades between Shreya & Aditya are too explicit, leave nothing to imagination, which is close to reading erotica.

Over all book makes an interesting read.

It is difficult to leave the book in between as you want to finish it in the one go. Having worked in a publishing house, I could relate very well to the nuances used by the author through his protagonist Aditya Kapoor.

Needless to mention, the genre has been handled with élan by the author who is an established name in the industry for his corporate thrillers. You should certainly read to know what happens when worlds of celebrated author & wannabe author collide? Is it possible to love two people at the same time? Can real ambition come in the way of blind passion? Can trust once broken, be regained? Master storyteller Ravi Subramanian has delved into the glitzy world of bestsellers and uncovers a risky dalliance between a superstar novelist and his alluring protégé which readers would love to explore.

Oh yes! Cover Design stands out for its visual appeal.

Indeed, The Bestseller She Wrote is a combustible cocktail of love, betrayal and redemption. Recommended reading but be prepared for something drastically different from the author who is known for writing something drastically different!
